What specifications should I follow when purchasing a new RIP station?

Why do my prints look grainy?

  • Make sure to be using the correct Profile according to media being used.
  • Carry out Bi-Directional Adjustment in proper head height.*

Why am I getting banding?

  • Make sure to be using the correct Profile according to media being used.
  • Check the media Feed Calibration on the printer.*
  • Do a TEST PRINT (Nozzle Check) from the control panel on the printer and make sure all CMYK or CMYKLcLm colors are firing.* Do a cleaning if necessary.
  • Is the printer heater at a suitable temperature for the media being used?

My cut is off from my print?

  • Carry out Print/Cut Adjustment in the Menu on the printer.*
  • Double check the contour cut placement in the design.
  • Was there a carriage/media jam previously? If so, call an FGS Technician.

My contour cut wont complete or is jagged?

  • Check the wear of the contour blade. Replace if necessary.
  • Check to see if contour blade holder is dirty and/or is not rotating freely.

What file types will Roland VersaWorks support?

  • Postscript, EPS (Encapsulated Postscript), PDF, TIFF & JPEG.

Print quality died in the middle of my job?

  • Do a TEST PRINT (Nozzle Check) from the control panel on the printer and make sure all CMYK or CMYKLcLm colors are firing.*
  • Run a manual Maintenance Cleaning on the print heads, cap tops and wipers.*
  • Make sure all ink cartridges have ink still left by physically pulling them out of printer to check.

I keep getting drops of ink on my media?

  • Clean the Wiper Blades. Replace if necessary.
  • Check the Mist Filter Sponge and make sure its not too over-saturated. If so, replace.
  • Run a manual Maintenance Cleaning on the print heads, checking for anything stuck to sides or bottom (lint, banner scrim, hair, ect).*
